Bears defeat Aggies in five-set exhibition bout on Saturday
WACO, Texas – The Baylor volleyball team finished out preseason play with an exhibition win against Texas A&M on Saturday night in the Ferrell Center, 3-2.
The Bears took sets two (25-23) and four (25-17) to push it to a fifth, where they came away victorious after falling in sets one (25-22) and three (25-23) to the Aggies.
BU and the Aggies stayed close for the entirety of the match, but pulled away in the fourth to make their presence and prowess known, winning 25-17, the largest margin of victory in a set thus far on the night.
In that fifth set, the two teams stayed tethered, but Baylor went up 14-12 for match point where the Bears had an ace to end it and take the victory.
Baylor will open its regular season with Minnesota and Wisconsin on Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27, respectively. The matches will be a part of the annual Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge, hosted this year by TCU in Fort Worth.
After the Challenge, the Bears head to Malibu, California, for the Pepperdine Asics Classic from September 1-3.
The home opener for BU in the Ferrell Center will be on Thursday, Sept. 8, against Colorado State in the Baylor Invitational.
