Bears upset Badgers for highest-ranked road win in program history
THE RUNDOWN
MADISON, Wis. – One year after recording its highest-ranked win in program history against the Badgers, No. 17 Baylor volleyball (4-0) posted its biggest road victory with a 3-1 upset over No. 4 Wisconsin Friday at the UW Field House, 21-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17.
Friday's road win over the fourth-ranked Badgers (2-2) shatters the previous record set on Dec. 5, 2009. BU upset No. 9 UCLA in Los Angeles in four sets to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 during that historic win.
Yossiana Pressley finished the match with 31 kills and 16 digs for her first double-double of the season and 13th of her career. Pressley put down 32 kills against the Badgers in last season's 3-1 win.
Shelly Stafford surpassed 1,000 career kills in the second set and finished with nine in the match for 1,003 kills as a Bear. Hannah Lockin posted her third consecutive double-double with a match-high 51 assists and 12 digs.
BU fell behind early to open the match after Wisconsin used a 4-0 run to take an 8-3 lead. A Badger service ace put the Bears behind 22-12, but then the Bears inched back into it with a 6-0 run to make it 22-19. UW closed it out with a kill for the 25-21 win.
The Bears didn't back down and came out strong in set two. BU jumped out to the 12-6 lead with a Shanel Bramschreiber ace and forced the Badger timeout. Pressley put down 10 kills and hit .500 to help BU tie up the match with a 25-22 win.
Wisconsin came back and took a 14-10 lead in set three, but the Bears would go on a 6-0 run to take the 16-14 advantage. The Badgers then tied it up at 21-21 with a kill on the outside. Baylor fought off a Wisconsin set point and took the final three points for the 2-1 advantage, 27-25.
BU kept the momentum and rolled out to a dominant 15-7 lead after a McGhee and Marieke van der Mark block. Wisconsin came back within three at 18-15, but the Bears would take seven of the last nine points to close it out, 25-17.

On the win…
"I'm pleased with how our passing settled down towards the end of the first set, and our serving picked up. Yossi (Pressley) out of the back row opened things up for our other pins and middles. Kara (McGhee) came up with some huge blocks and timely kills. It was truly a team effort on our part in a lot of little areas that allowed us to get a big win against a very strong Wisconsin team. We have to keep learning and be ready for a very good Marquette team next."
