Bears take out two seeded doubles teams, one singles player in Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Baylor men's tennis had a strong start and went a perfect 5-0 on day one of the ITA National Fall Championships Wednesday at The Tennis Club in Newport Beach, Calif.
In singles play, No. 44 Sven Lah opened the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 50 Joshua Peck of North Carolina, and then No. 49 Adrian Boitan knocked out No. 15 seed and 27th-ranked Kyle Seelig of Ohio State, 6-3, 7-6(5). Lah collects his second ranked win of the season while Adrian wins his first against a ranked foe.
Down 6-0, 4-0 in his match, 14th-ranked and No. 7 seed Matias Soto rallied and took a thrilling 0-6, 7-5, 6-4 win over No. 110 Raphael Lambling of South Carolina in the opening round. He is now 2-2 against ranked opponents.
In doubles action, Dickerson and Soto rolled to a 6-0, 7-6(3) victory over No. 5 seed Blake Croyder and Philip Henning of Georgia.
Then, Lah and senior Constantin Frantzen closed out the night with a 6-4, 6-2 upset over No. 4 seed and fourth-ranked Brian Berdusco and Johannes Ingildsen of Florida. They capture their first ranked win as a doubles tandem.

In singles play, Soto advances to play 24th-ranked Giovanni Oradini (Mississippi State) while Lah takes on No. 12 seed and 19th-ranked Matej Vocel (Oklahoma State). Boitan will challenge Oscar Gabriel Ortiz from Seward County Community College in the round of 32.
In doubles play, Lah and Frantzen advance to the face the winner of Iowa-LSU while Dickerson and Soto will play against the Oklahoma State-USC winner on Thursday in Newport Beach, Calif.
