
MT Hosts ITA Texas Regional Championships

The tournament runs Friday through Monday at the Hurd Tennis Center
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis will host the ITA Texas Regional Championships for the second-straight year from Oct. 25-28 at the Hurd Tennis Center and Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center in Waco.
The event is free and open to the public.
Doubles action will open Friday morning at 8 a.m. CT with freshman Rahul Dhokia and Christopher Frantzen taking on Abilene Christian's Taine Bernhard and Sebastian Langdon.
Fourth-seeded Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen have a first-round bye and will take on the winner of SMU-Lamar no earlier than 9:15 a.m. Sixth-seeded Ryan Dickerson and Matias Soto will also have a bye and then face Texas Tech or Lamar in the round of 32 no earlier than 9:15 a.m.
In singles play, second-seeded and 14th-ranked Soto received a first-round bye and will face Lamar's Brock Lauer or UTA's Miguel Cabrera in the round of 64. Seventh-seeded and 44th-ranked Sven Lah will face the winner of SMU's Kyle Sillman and Texas Tech's Justin Bloss in the round of 64.
The Frantzen Brothers will have opening round matches against Texas Tech's Jackson Cobb and Rice's Eric Rutledge while Dickerson will play SMU's Tomas Vaise. Those matches will not start before 10:30 a.m.
Dhokia will face the winner of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Pascal Lorieul and UTSA's Javier Rodriguez in the round of 64 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country.
In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
