Junior honored for second time this week after week 12 performance
WACO, Texas – Winning her second award this week, redshirt junior Shelly Fanning was named the VolleyMob Player of the Week, announced Tuesday morning.
Fanning earns her seventh honor of the season and first from VolleyMob.com. The middle blocker earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Fanning turned up the heat and led the Big 12 in blocks per set (2.43) and total blocks (17) in week 12.
The junior had a career-high nine blocks against Iowa State on Wednesday and then nearly matched her new career high with eight blocks against Kansas State in Manhattan last Saturday.
Offensively, she led the team with two double-digit performances while averaging above her Big 12-leading .405 hitting percentage with a .511 efficiency.
Against Iowa State, she led the Bears with 16 kills on a .577 clip. Then, she added a match-high 11 kills on a .429 attack effort against K-State in Manhattan.
Baylor faces No. 5 Texas Friday at 6 p.m. CT inside the Ferrell Center in Waco. The match will air on FOX Sports Southwest Plus and the FOX Sports GO App.
