WACO, Texas -- Baylor volleyball played its annual Green & Gold Scrimmage on Tuesday evening at the Ferrell Center, giving fans a preview of the 2016 team, set to open its 2016 season on Friday with the Hampton Inn North Baylor Invitational.

The Gold team swept the three-set tilt, 25-23, 25-12, 25-23, putting together a well-rounded match that included a double-double from Camryn Freiberg. As a team, the team out-blocked the Green squad 9.0-5.0 and led in the service game, 7 aces to none.

With 12 kills and 10 digs, Freiberg posted the only double-double for either squad. Jana Brusek tied for a match-high with 17 digs. Tara Wulf added 15 digs and three of the team's six aces.

Daria Richards posted the highest attack percentage among all outside or middle hitters, contributing seven kills on 19 attacks for a .316 mark. Richards also led both squads with 9.0 block assists.

Hannah Fluegel handled the setter role for the winning squad, posting a match-high 30 assist performance.

For the Green squad, Katie Staiger led all hitters with 16 kills on 37 attacks, good for a .297 success rate. Morgan Reed dished out 27 assists, while Alex Banister posted 17 digs.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Gold squad featured freshman Tara Wulf, junior Camryn Freiberg, junior Jana Brusek, freshman Hannah Fluegel, sophomore Aniah Philo, and freshman Daria Richards. The squad was coached by assistant coach Jason Williams.
- The Green team was led by junior Katie Staiger, sophomore Shelly Fanning, senior Morgan Reed, freshman Nicole Thomas, sophomore Amanda Lesikar, sophomore Ashley Fritcher, freshman MacKenzie Davis, and senior Alex Banister. The team was coached by assistant coach Sam Erger.
- Gold hit .458 in a second-set victory, the best of the match for either side.
- The Gold squad out-blocked the Green side, 9.0-5.0, with Daria Richards' 9.0 block assists leading the way.

STAT OF THE DAY
12-10 -- the kill-dig performance for Camryn Freiberg, posting a double-double in her first outing with the Bears.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor opens the 2016 season this Friday, Aug. 26-27, hosting the Hampton Inn North Baylor Invitational. Competition starts on Friday, with Baylor facing UT-Rio Grande Valley at 6:00 p.m.
