WACO, Texas - The 30th-ranked Baylor men's tennis team will begin a three-match homestand with its final non-conference matchup against No. 27 Tulsa Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Bears (11-7) look to snap a current three-match losing streak, all coming to top-15 opponents at the BNP Paribas Open Collegiate Tennis Challenge Presented by Oracle in Indian Wells, Calif. last weekend. The Bears went 2-1 in the doubles point before falling in singles play.
Baylor will face its fourth-straight ranked opponent in the Golden Hurricane, who are 8-8 on the season. In its last match, Tulsa defeated No. 42 Dartmouth College 4-3 Tuesday, which snapped a five-match losing streak.
Baylor leads the all-time series, 8-2, and has won four straight matches over the Golden Hurricane. Most recently, then-No. 10 Baylor defeated Tulsa 4-1 on the road last season.
Baylor currently holds a 10-2 record at home, last falling to then-No. 20 Mississippi on Feb. 6 at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center. The Bears are 7-0 at the Hurd Tennis Center this season.
In the newest ITA rankings, the 20th-ranked senior Julian Lenz leads the team in singles action, followed by No. 66 junior Max Tchoutakian. Lenz pairs with redshirt freshman Will Little to be the 24th-best doubles duo in the country.
Tulsa has one ranked singles player in No. 53 Or Ram-Harel.
As part of the matchup, Baylor will participate in "Sic `Em for the Cure." All fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness. Free pom poms and pink wristbands will be distributed while supplies list. There will also be a raffle entry for prizes that will be announced at the Texas Tech match on April 2.
Live results and a live video stream for the match will be available at BaylorBears.com with a live blog available as well.
Following the match against Tulsa, Baylor will open conference play against No. 9 Texas Tech on April 2 at 6 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.
