He started all 13 games a year ago earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors from the league's coaches. The Orange, Texas, native is a quick, rangy, playmaker at hybrid linebacker/safety spot. Baylor's three-plus year record of 38-7 and league mark of 25-5 are the best among Big 12 schools. The Bears have also won two conference championships since 2013.

SHOCK BREAKS SCHOOLà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RUSHINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RECORDS
Baylor senior Shock Linwood is the nation's fifth-leading active rusher and became Baylor's all-time leader in rushing yards against Rice. In the win over Kansas, he rushed for his second TD of the season to stand alone as BU's career rushing TD leader with 36.

NEWà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 3-4 ALIGNMENTà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TURNINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € DEFENSE INTOà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € `NO-FLYà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ZONE'
BU's switch to 3-4 defense to start the 2016 has had many benefits, but perhaps the biggest area of improvement for the Bears is their ability to defend the pass. In the first six games of 2016, the Baylor Dà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € is far and away better against air attacks than it was a season ago.

CANNONà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BECOMINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € MODELà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € OFà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € CONSISTENCYà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ASà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOPà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TARGET
After the loss of 2015 Biletnikoff Award winner Corey Coleman to the NFL, junior KDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € Cannon was expected to become Seth Russell's No. 1 target, but an injury heading into fall camp delayed the speedster's progression. Six games into the season, Cannon was starting to return to form. However, he missed the latter stages of the OSUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € win and all of the Iowa State game with a groin injury. He returned for 3 catches for 75 yards, including a 59-yard TD scamper against KU.

- Ranks 4th in Big 12 and 22nd in FBS with 89.0 yards receiving per game

GROBEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € MAKINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SPECIALà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TEAMSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € A PRIORITY
Acting head coach Jim Grobe has said from the beginning of his tenure that he would put his stamp on Baylor's special teams effort. Through six games of the season, Grobe's work has become evident as the Bears are outperforming their special teams output from a season ago.

BACKFIELD BECOMINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € FOUR-HEADEDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € MONSTER
Through the first six games of 2016, Baylor has displayed a balanced rushing attack with JaMycal Hasty, Shock Linwood, Seth Russell and Terence Williams all producing over 50.0 yards per game on the ground. BU is the only FBS team that has four rushers averaging 50.0 yard per game or more.

TEXASà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SERIES HISTORY
Baylor and Texas renew their rivalry for the 106th time when the schools meet Saturday, the third-most played rivalry in Baylor football history behind TCU and Texas A&Mà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (111 & 108 meetings, respectively). Texas leads the all-time series 75-26-4, but Baylor has won four of the last six meetings. The Bears are just 10-45-2 in games played in Austin. In last year's meeting, Texas a 23-17 victory at McLane Stadium, despite BU outscoring the Longhorns 17-3 in the second half. In the last meeting in Austin, Baylor captured a 28-7 victory. In 2013, Baylor exploded for 17 points in the third quarter and never looked back taking a 30-10 victory to clinch its first Big 12 title. The series dates back to a 23-0 Texas victory Oct. 29, 1901, in Waco. The programs have played every year since 1945. This will be only the 11th time in the series that a ranked Baylor team takes on an unranked Texas squad. BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € is 5-5 in those previous 10 contests, but has won four of the last five such contests, including in 2010, 2011 and 2014. The Bears will be trying to win back-to-back games in Austin for the first time since 1989 and 1991.

RUSHINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOUCHDOWN STREAKà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOPSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € AMONGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € POWERà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € FIVE
Baylor leads all Power-Five conference teams, after rushing for a touchdown in 35-straight games. The Bears have had at least one score on the ground in every game starting with a win over TCU on Nov. 30, 2013. BU's mark ranks third among all FBSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € schools, trailing only Navy (54) and New Mexico (43). Since the streak began, the Bears hold a 29-6 record with 106à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (3.03 per game) rushing TDs and 8,097 (238.4 per game) yards gained on the ground.

BAYLOR'S DISRPUTIVE DEFENSE
BU's defensive impact has improved under sixth-year D-coordinator Phil Bennett. Over the last three-plus seasons, in which Baylor has posted a Big 12-best 38-7 record and won two league titles, the Bears D has increased its sacks and tackles-for-loss totals. In 2016, the Bears have debuted a 3-4 look that has resulted in a stifling defensive effort through five games.

BEST IN TEXAS
Baylor has posted the best record among in-state programs over the last five-plus years, a 56-15 mark [see list below]. The Bears are also 21-5 head-to-head vs. Texas schools since 2011, and boast an overall 43-7 record in games played in the Lone Star State.

WIN-LOSS RECORDS (since 2011):
Baylor 56-15
Houston 53-21
Texas A&M 50-23
TCU 49-22
Texas 39-32

DEFENSE AMONG LEAGUE'S BEST
It's hard to overstate the role Baylor's defense has had in the Bears' success the last three-plus seasonsà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (Big 12-best 38-7 record and two league titles). Phil Bennett's D ranks among the Big 12 and national leaders in several key per-snap categories and takeaways.

THE BAYLOR SYSTEM IS AMERICA'S TOP OFFENSE
Baylor's unique, record-breaking system has set the standard for offense in contemporary college football. For three-straight seasons, Baylor has led the nation in both Total Offense (616.2 ypg in 2015, 581.5 ypg 2014, 618.8 ypg 2013) and Scoring (48.1 ppg in 2015, 48.2 ppg 2014, 52.4 ppg 2013), just the second program in NCAA history to do soà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (first since BYU 1979-81).

THE BAYLOR OFFENSE: à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € A unique, up-tempo spread attack with origins in Bill Yeoman's `Houston Veer' (perhaps most identifiable by wide splits of receivers and a power running game); it's a balanced offense, not to be confused with more common pass-heavy spread attacks.
