SHOCK BREAKS 35-YEAR-OLDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SCHOOLà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RUSHINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € RECORD
Baylor senior Shock Linwood is the nation's fifth-leading active rusher and became Baylor's all-time leader in rushing yards against Rice. He still needs 1 TD to hold the school's career rushing TD mark alone.
NEWà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 3-4 ALIGNMENTà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TURNINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € DEFENSE INTOà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € `NO-FLYà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ZONE'
BU's switch to 3-4 defense to start the 2016 has had many benefits, but perhaps the biggest area of improvement for the Bears is their ability to defend the pass. In the first four games of 2016, the Baylor Dà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € is far and away better against air attacks than it was a season ago.
CANNONà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BECOMINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € MODELà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € OFà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € CONSISTENCYà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ASà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOPà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TARGET

BACKFIELD BECOMINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € FOUR-HEADEDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € MONSTER
Through the first five games of 2016, Baylor has displayed a balanced rushing attack with JaMycal Hasty, Shock Linwood and Terence Williams all producing over 54.0 yards per game on the ground. Meanwhile, QBà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € Seth Russell has showed his running ability when necessary.
BAYLOR HOMECOMING HISTORY
Baylor plays its 93rd Homecoming game Saturday, marking the 107th anniversary of its first Homecoming in 1909. Baylor's Homecoming Parade is the nation's largest, and Baylor is among the first five schools nationally ever to celebrate Homecoming. The event became annual in 1924 when the name was changed from "Good Will Week" to Homecoming. The Bears are 45-43-4 in Homecoming contests, including an 9-11 record in the Big 12 era. Baylor's first Homecoming game was a 6-3 win over TCUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € in 1909, however, it would not play another such game until 1915, when it beat TCU on Thanksgiving Day, 51-0. From 1916 thru 1923, there again was a gap in Homecoming festivities until 1924. Baylor has played a Homecoming game every season since 1924, with the exception of two years during World War II (1943-44) when the Bears didn't field a team. The Bears and Jayhawks have met three times before for Baylor's Homecoming with BU going 3-0 in those games (W, 36-35 in 2006; W, 41-14 in 2012; W, 60-14 in 2014).
KANSASà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € SERIES HISTORY
Saturday is the 16th meeting between Baylor and Kansas, the 13th as Big 12 Conference opponents. Baylor leads the all-time series, 11-4 and a perfect 7-0 record vs. the Jayhawks in games played in Waco. BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € has won six-consecutive meetings and is 9-3 in the Big 12 era versus KU. The first meeting between the schools was a 22-0 Kansas victory in Lawrence, Kan., in 1971. The Bears won the first meeting as Big 12 foes, a 31-24 decision Oct. 10, 1998, in Waco.à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € In their last meeting in Waco, the Bears cruised to a 60-14 victory. Last season, Baylor claimed a 66-7 victory over the Jayhawks in Lawrence.
RUSHINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOUCHDOWN STREAKà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOPSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € AMONGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € POWERà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € FIVE
Baylor leads all Power-Five conference teams, after rushing for a touchdown in 34-straight games. The Bears have had at least one score on the ground in every game starting with a win over TCU on Nov. 30, 2013. BU's mark ranks third among all FBSà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € schools, trailing only Navy (53) and New Mexico (41). Since the streak began, the Bears hold a 28-6 record with 102à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (3.0 per game) rushing TDs and 8,097 (238.1 per game) yards gained on the ground.
BAYLOR'S DISRPUTIVE DEFENSE
BU's defensive impact has improved under sixth-year D-coordinator Phil Bennett. Over the last three-plus seasons, in which Baylor has posted a Big 12-best 37-7 record and won two league titles, the Bears D has increased its sacks and tackles-for-loss totals. In 2016, the Bears have debuted a 3-4 look that has resulted in a stifling defensive effort through five games.
BEST IN TEXAS
Baylor has posted the best record among in-state programs over the last five-plus years, a 54-15 mark [see list below]. The Bears are also 21-5 head-to-head vs. Texas schools since 2011, and boast an overall 42-7 record in games played in the Lone Star State.

BIGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € 12'S BESTà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € HOMEFIELDà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € ADVANTAGE
In the final years at Floyd Casey Stadium and since the opening of McLane Stadium, the Bears have been nearly unbeatable in Waco. At its new home on the Brazos River, the Bears are 13-2, which ranks as the top winning percentage (.867) for any stadium in the country. BUà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € also leads the Big 12 and ranks third nationally in most home wins since 2011.
THE BAYLOR SYSTEM IS AMERICA'S TOP OFFENSE
Baylor's unique, record-breaking system has set the standard for offense in contemporary college football. For three-straight seasons, Baylor has led the nation in both Total Offense (616.2 ypg in 2015, 581.5 ypg 2014, 618.8 ypg 2013) and Scoring (48.1 ppg in 2015, 48.2 ppg 2014, 52.4 ppg 2013), just the second program in NCAA history to do soà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (first since BYU 1979-81).
THE BAYLOR OFFENSE: à ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € A unique, up-tempo spread attack with origins in Bill Yeoman's `Houston Veer' (perhaps most identifiable by wide splits of receivers and a power running game); it's a balanced offense, not to be confused with more common pass-heavy spread attacks. The Baylor offense is also in use under former Art Briles assistants at Syracuse (head coach Dino Babers), Texasà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert) and Tulsa (head coach Philip Montgomery).
BEARS MAKEà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € HABIT OFà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € BEATINGà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € TOP 10 TEAMS

GANGGREEN DEFENSE AMONG LEAGUE'S BEST
It's hard to overstate the role Baylor's defense has had in the Bears' success the last three-plus seasonsà ¢Ã¢' ¬Ã‹ € (Big 12-best 37-7 record and two league titles). Phil Bennett's D ranks among the Big 12 and national leaders in several key per-snap categories and takeaways.
NATION'S MOST BALANCED OFFENSE
Baylor annually ranks among the nation's leaders in both passing and rushing. The Bears rush more often than pass, and have run the ball on 58.1 percent of plays over the last five seasons.
