July 1, 2015 WACO, Texas - Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll
Spring Dean's List
A year removed from having a school-record 678 student-athletes earn Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll status, 616 BU student-athletes were so honored in 2014-15--314 for the 2014 fall term and 302 for the 2015 spring semester. It marked the fourth straight year BU produced 600 or more total Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selections.
Of those earning 2014-15 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition, 79 were named with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for at least one of the two terms--44 in the fall semester and 35 for the spring term. Student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.00 semester grade-point average to earn Commissioner's Honor Roll status.
Baylor has had at least 200 student-athletes earn Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition in each of the last 16 semesters with 300 or more being so honored in nine of the last 10 terms.
In each of the last 14 semesters, the cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of all Baylor teams has been above a 3.0, with the last nine terms (spring 2011,fall 2011, spring 2012, fall 2012, spring 2013, fall 2013, spring 2014, fall 2014 and spring 2015) producing the highest semester GPAs in school history for any term.
For the fall 2014 semester, BU student-athletes produced the second-highest fall semester GPA on record with a 3.21 mark, followed by a spring semester record (and second-highest one semester mark in school history) 3.23 GPA.
The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll is an inclusive honor for varsity sports sponsored by the league membership. The Honor Roll is recorded and released each semester and recognizes those student-athletes who had a 3.00 or better grade-point average in the previous semester. More than 3,000 student-athletes each semester have been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the league's 19-year history. Baylor has had more than 7,700 student-athletes honored since the Honor Roll began.
The spring 2015 semester proved yet again that Baylor student-athletes dominate not only on the field, but also in the classroom. This semester, 98 student-athletes from Baylor's varsity sports were named to the 2015 spring Dean's List. Dean's List recognition is awarded to Baylor students with a 3.7 grade-point average, enrolled in at least 12 hours and who make no grade lower than a C.
