COMPLETE RESULTS

THE RUNDOWN
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
Baylor women's cross country junior Maggie Montoya placed 86th at the NCAA Championships Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

Montoya completed the 6,000-meter course in 20:45.9, improving on her time from the 2014 NCAA Championships by over four seconds (20:49.96). However, Montoya dropped from 44th last year to 86th in 2015.

Montoya was in the lead pack early and sat in 32nd through 2,000 meters (6:41.8), but then fell back as the raced progressed.

The race completes Montoya's junior campaign with the Rogers, Ark., native leading BU in all five of the team races of 2015, earning All-Big 12 and All-Region honors and winning the Bear Twilight individual race title.

NOTABLES
- Montoya was the eighth women's individual NCAA qualifier in program history.
- Montoya automatically qualified for the event by placing second at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in a career-best time of 19:50.5.
- The 86th-place finish was BU's highest by an individual runner since Kara Newtown was 76th in 2001.
- The women's team champion was New Mexico (49), while Notre Dame's Molly Seidel won the individual title in 19:28.6.

TOP QUOTE #1
"Maggie is obviously disappointed, but she went for it. She put herself up there with the leaders through the first 2K, but she just faded down the stretch. There is not much margin for error in this race as evidenced by the quality runners behind Maggie." -- head coach Todd Harbour on the result

TOP QUOTE #2
"I was so proud of her for going for it. That sets her up for next year. We will be next year with hopefully different results. Maggie has had a great year and we are forward her to carrying that into the track season." -- head coach Todd Harbour on the future
