PHILADELPHIA - Baylor junior defensive tackle Andrew Billings (Chuck Bednarik Award) and junior wide receiver Corey Coleman (Maxwell Award) were both named one of 20 semifinalists for their respective awards by the Maxwell Football Club Monday.

The 79th Maxwell Award will be given to the Collegiate Player of the Year and the 21st Chuck Bednarik Award will go to the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.

Coleman has started in all seven games in 2015 and has a FBS-best 18 receiving touchdowns in his third collegiate season. The Richardson, Texas, native has 962 receiving yards and averages 137.4 receiving yards per contest, which ranks third nationally, heading into the final five games of the season.

The junior has shattered records this season, passing former Baylor All-American Kendall Wright for both the Baylor single-season touchdown reception (14) record and the career touchdown reception (30) mark.

Coleman is one of two Big 12 wide receivers on the list, including TCU's Josh Doctson. TCU's Trevone Boykin and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield give the Big 12 four 2015 semifinalists.

The Bears have now had six semifinalists for the Maxwell Award in the last six years as quarterback Robert Griffin III was a semifinalist in both 2010 and 2011, quarterback Bryce Petty was a semifinalist in 2013 and 2014, and running back Lache Seastrunk was named to the award list in 2013.

On the defensive side, returning All-Big 12 lineman Andrew Billings has totaled 22 tackles (21 solo, 9.0 for loss of 26 yards), one sack, two hurries and one forced fumble in six games this season. Billings ranks sixth in the Big 12 in tackles for loss (1.33/game).

He is Baylor's second-straight Bednarik Award semifinalist. Senior Shawn Oakman was named a semifinalist last season. Oklahoma State's Emmanuel Ogbah is the lone other Big 12 semifinalist.

The winners of the 79th Maxwell Award and the 21st Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show which will be broadcast on ESPN on Dec. 10. Three finalists for each award will be announced on Nov. 24 and a second round of voting will take place at that time. The formal presentation of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club's 79th Awards Gala on Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Tropicana Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Both players have helped lead Baylor to a 7-0 start and a No. 2 ranking in both the AP Poll and Coaches' Poll, a program best.

Baylor plays at Kansas State Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
