NAPA, Calif. - After five straight wins, Baylor men's tennis junior Julian Lenz was knocked out of the singles main draw at the Napa Valley 50k Challenger with a 7-6(4), 6-3 loss to No. 342 Jared Donaldson on Friday.
The BU standout, who is currently ranked No. 1 in singles in the ITA, went toe-to-toe with the American professional in the first set only to come up short in the tiebreaker. From there Donaldson took control to claim the win in straight sets
Prior to the loss, Lenz had won five matches in five days at the Napa Country Club, before getting a day off on Thursday. The five wins had advanced the German junior out of the qualifying draw and through the round of 16 of the main draw.
HIGHLIGHTS
• At the event, Lenz beaten Noah Rubin (No. 587), Daniel Garza (No. 518), Mico Santiago (No. 867), JP Smith (No. 229) and Daniel Nguyen (No. 382).
• Lenz's two wins in the main draw were the first and second of his career in a Challenger main draw.

Three BU players will be in action at ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., as Felipe Rios competes in the singles qualifying draw starting on Monday and Lenz and Diego Galeano take part in main draw action starting on Thursday.
