TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Baylor freshman wide receiver KD Cannon was one of 12 players added to the 2014 Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Tuesday. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.

Baylor is now the only school in the country with three receivers up for the Biletnikoff Award as Cannon joins seniors Antwan Goodley and Levi Norwood, who were named to the watch list in the preseason.

Through three games, Cannon leads the country with 471 yards receiving. He has five TD catches, which are the second-most in the nation and his 157.0 yards receiving per game ranks third in the FBS.

With injuries to BU's more experienced receivers, Cannon has taken advantage of the opportunity in the past two games. He has 412 receiving yards over the last two games, which ranks second in a two-game span in BU history behind Terrance Williams' 477 yards over two games in 2012.

Cannon burst on to the scene with 223 yards vs. Northwestern State in the second game of the year. That yardage total is the fourth-most by any FBS player this season and the second-most in a game in BU history. The Mount Pleasant, Texas, product also had three scoring grabs vs. the Demons, marking just the sixth time a BU €ˆplayer has caught three TDs in a game Last Friday vs. Buffalo, Cannon had 189 yards receiving, including an 89-yard reception that ranks as the fifth-longest in the FBS in 2014.

Cannon has caught at least one touchdown in all three of his career games, while all of his scoring grabs have been for more than 40 yards (42, 46, 50, 81 and 89).

The Biletnikoff Award watch list now includes 67 players, while Cannon, Goodley and Norwood make up a third of the Big 12 Conference's nine players on the list. Cannon is one of only two freshman on the list.

Last season, Tevin Reese made the Biletnikoff watch list, which has been given annually since 1994. Former Bear Terrance Williams was one of three finalists for the award in 2012, and Kendall Wright was a semifinalist in 2011.

Any player at any position who catches a pass is eligible for consideration for the Biletnikoff Award. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group 221 prominent college football journalists, commentators, and former receivers. Receivers may be added to the watch list as their season performances dictate.

The 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on Dec. 11, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on Nov. 17, following the vote by the 221 members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on Nov. 24.

The award is named for Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, who was an All-Pro receiver with the Oakland Raiders and an All-America receiver at Florida State. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year Raiders career from 1965 through 1978. Fred was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI.
