THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - Baylor soccer was unable to hang onto an early 1-0 lead as Texas won 2-1 on Sunday evening at Betty Lou Mays Field. The Bears' (8-7-2, 2-4-1 Big 12) home finale was turned upside down after the Longhorns (10-6-2, 4-3-0 Big 12) scored in the 75th and 90th minutes.
BU had everything it was looking for early on. The Bears were able to get a quick goal in the sixth minute and let the trademark Jobson marking defense do its work, which is usually the recipe for a Bears win, especially at home. To get ahead, Katie Daigle dropped a long free kick from near midfield into the box that was headed by Alexa Wilde. After the ball was saved by UT goalie Abby Smith, the ball bounced back to Wilde for a quick rebound strike and score.
The Baylor defense then took over as the half ended with the same score. BU held advantages in shots (6-4) and shots on goal (3-0). The second half, however, was a different chapter. UT ended up with edges in shots (8-4), shots on goal (4-2) and corner kicks (2-0).
Texas' second half edge in possession led to the equalizer in the 75th minute as Lindsey Meyer scored on a tap in rebound in a scrum off Brooke Gilbert's free kick into the box. Then, with 30 seconds left in the match, a UT free kick into the box caused chaos and Chantale Campbell ended up finding Julia Dyche in stride for a 15-yard blast to the back of the net. The score left Baylor and the home crowd stunned as nearly everyone in attendance was prepared for overtime.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"We had a great crowd and environment tonight, which was awesome. Unfortunately, we lost a heartbreaker and didn't get the result we wanted. I could not have asked for more out of anyone on the team. They played great. We have to keep finding goals because defenses will eventually break."
-- Baylor Co-Head Coach Marci Jobson
