COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After four straight wins, the Baylor men's tennis doubles pairing of
Tony Lupieri and
Felipe Rios dropped a 1-6, 7-5, 10-7 decision in the doubles draw final at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships on Tuesday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Lupieri and Rios were unable to get past TCU's Trevor Johnson and Cameron Norrie as they looked to claim an automatic spot in the USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships from Nov. 6-9 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
HIGHLIGHTS
? It was the seventh-time since 2001 that a BU doubles pairing has played in the regional final.
? It was BU's first appearance in the doubles regional final since Roberto Maytin and John Peers made it in 2010.
? Baylor doubles teams are now 3-4 since 2001 in regional finals.
? Lupieri and Rios went 4-1 at the event, their first together as doubles partners.
