TOP 10 DEFENSE GETS LITTLE RECOGNITION
Baylor's underrated defense doesn't get the credit it deserves, but the success of the undefeated Bears is directly related to its suffocating D. Baylor ranks sixth nationally in scoring defense (15.4 points per game) and 11th in total defense (306.1 yards per game). The Bears lead the nation in both red zone percentage against (.565) and fourth down conversions allowed (.600) among 10 Top 10 categories the Baylor D is ranked in.

THE €ˆNATION'S MOST €ˆBALANCED €ˆOFFENSE
Despite scoring quick touchdowns in its first eight games, Baylor has continued to establish its run game in order to set up the pass play. The Bears have 389 rushes on the season and only 246 passes. Baylor is the nation's only team to rank among the top 25 in both rushing and passing in each of the last four years.

BEARS D STEPPING UP
A significant, but oft-overlooked, component to Baylor's success in 2013 (and 12-game winning streak that spans back to 2012) is the improvement of the defense. The Bears veteran D has made huge strides in defensive coordinator Phil Bennett's third-year on the job. BU ranks sixth nationally and leads the Big 12 in points allowed (15.4/game) and ranks 9th nationally and leads the Big 12 in total yards allowed (306.1/game).

12-GAME WINNING STREAK
Baylor continues to establish a new school record with each win. The Bears' 12 straight wins surpass the 10 straight games won in 1936 and 1937. The Bears won the final three regular-season games in 2012 as well as a decisive 49-26 victory over No. 17 UCLA in the Holiday Bowl. Four of the 12 wins in the streak have come over AP €ˆtop 25 teams (No. 2 Kansas State, No. 24 Oklahoma State, No. 17 UCLA and No. 12 Oklahoma). The current streak is 3rd-longest nationally.

Through eight games, Bryce Petty is averaging 332.1 passing yards per game, while completing 66.8 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and only one interception. He leads the country in passing efficiency at 210.64 and in ESPN's adjusted QBR rankings with a score of 93.3. Petty served as the backup to Robert Griffin III and Nick Florence the past two seasons. The junior had thrown just 14 passes in 11 career games played entering 2013, but has been through three seasons and four spring drills at Baylor since signing in 2009 and enrolling in January 2010. He's thrown for 200+ yards and at least 2 TDs in all eight career starts.

SEASTRUNK €ˆLEADING €ˆRUSHING €ˆATTACK €ˆTHROUGH €ˆEIGHT
Junior running back Lache Seastrunk has racked up 888 yards of rushing on 102 attempts through the first eight games. He is second in the nation with 8.7 yards per carry and leads the Big 12 with 11 rushing touchdowns. He is 43 yards away from cracking the Baylor top 10 list for most yards in a single season and his 111.0 yards per contest would currently be second in BU €ˆschool record. That mark is 18th nationally and leads the Big12 with Seastrunk gaining at least 100 yards in six of the season's first eight games.

Baylor's starting offense has had 85 drives that have resulted in 52 touchdowns, seven field goals, 14 punts, four turnover on downs, one safety, two missed field goals, one interception and four fumbles (five End Of Halfs and 4 defensive TDs not included).

Baylor's defense ranks sixth nationally in points allowed with 15.4, but has actually only allowed 72 points (9.0/gm) by its starting defense (42 of 123 total points allowed after reserves entered, two came on a safety and seven allowed by special teams - see chart below).
