BRILES' SYSTEM IS AMERICA'S TOP OFFENSE
Baylor leads the country in total offense (686.0 ypg.), scoring offense (61.0 ppg.) and passing efficiency (201.50). The Bears are the only team in the country to be ranked in the top 10 for both passing (3rd, 390.6) and rushing offense (9th, 295.4). Baylor's offensive machine has ranked among the nation's top two offenses in each of the past three seasons, the only school to achieve the feat.

BAYLOR €ˆSCORING €ˆAT €ˆLIGHTNING €ˆPACE
The Bears have scored 48 of their 60 offensive TDs this season in under two minutes, including 23 in under one minute. BU is averaging 6.0 plays per scoring €ˆdrive in 2013 with an average length of 66.2 yards and an average time of 1:45.

NOVEMBER (AND DECEMBER) IS FOR CONTENDERS
Baylor has compiled an FBS best 12-1 mark in November and December since 2011 (8-1 in Nov., 4-0 in Dec.). Included in those games is 5-1 record vs. Top 25 teams (wins over No. 5 OU in 2011 and No. 2 K-State, No. 23 Oklahoma State and No. 17 UCLA in 2012 and No. 12 Oklahoma in 2013).

TOP 10 DEFENSE GETS LITTLE RECOGNITION
Baylor's underrated defense doesn't get the credit it deserves, but the success of the undefeated Bears is directly related to its suffocating D. Baylor ranks sixth nationally in scoring defense (15.4 points per game) and 11th in total defense (306.1 yards per game). The Bears lead the nation in both red zone percentage against (.565) and fourth down conversions allowed (.600) among 10 Top 10 categories the Baylor D is ranked in.

THE €ˆNATION'S MOST €ˆBALANCED €ˆOFFENSE
Despite scoring quick touchdowns in its first eight games, Baylor has continued to establish its run game in order to set up the pass play. The Bears have 389 rushes on the season and only 246 passes. Baylor is the nation's only team to rank among the top 25 in both rushing and passing in each of the last four years.

BEARS D STEPPING UP
A significant, but oft-overlooked, component to Baylor's success in 2013 (and 12-game winning streak that spans back to 2012) is the improvement of the defense. The Bears veteran D has made huge strides in defensive coordinator Phil Bennett's third-year on the job. BU ranks sixth nationally and leads the Big 12 in points allowed (15.4/game) and ranks 9th nationally and leads the Big 12 in total yards allowed (306.1/game).

12-GAME WINNING STREAK
Baylor continues to establish a new school record with each win. The Bears' 12 straight wins surpass the 10 straight games won in 1936 and 1937. The Bears won the final three regular-season games in 2012 as well as a decisive 49-26 victory over No. 17 UCLA in the Holiday Bowl. Four of the 12 wins in the streak have come over AP €ˆtop 25 teams (No. 2 Kansas State, No. 24 Oklahoma State, No. 17 UCLA and No. 12 Oklahoma). The current streak is 3rd-longest nationally.

PETTY €ˆLEADS NATION €ˆIN €ˆFIRST €ˆEIGHT €ˆSTARTS
Through eight games, Bryce Petty is averaging 332.1 passing yards per game, while completing 66.8 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and only one interception. He leads the country in passing efficiency at 210.64 and in ESPN's adjusted QBR rankings with a score of 93.3. Petty served as the backup to Robert Griffin III and Nick Florence the past two seasons. The junior had thrown just 14 passes in 11 career games played entering 2013, but has been through three seasons and four spring drills at Baylor since signing in 2009 and enrolling in January 2010. He's thrown for 200+ yards and at least 2 TDs in all eight career starts.

SEASTRUNK €ˆLEADING €ˆRUSHING €ˆATTACK €ˆTHROUGH €ˆEIGHT
Junior running back Lache Seastrunk has racked up 888 yards of rushing on 102 attempts through the first eight games. He is second in the nation with 8.7 yards per carry and leads the Big 12 with 11 rushing touchdowns. He is 43 yards away from cracking the Baylor top 10 list for most yards in a single season and his 111.0 yards per contest would currently be second in BU €ˆschool record. That mark is 18th nationally and leads the Big12 with Seastrunk gaining at least 100 yards in six of the season's first eight games.

STARTING OFFENSE IS WELL-OILED €ˆMACHINE
Baylor's starting offense has had 85 drives that have resulted in 52 touchdowns, seven field goals, 14 punts, four turnover on downs, one safety, two missed field goals, one interception and four fumbles (five End Of Halfs and 4 defensive TDs not included).

STARTING D TOUGH TO SCORE ON
Baylor's defense ranks sixth nationally in points allowed with 15.4, but has actually only allowed 72 points (9.0/gm) by its starting defense (42 of 123 total points allowed after reserves entered, two came on a safety and seven allowed by special teams - see chart below). The starting unit has allowed just nine TDs in eight games this season.

BAYLOR'S DISRUPTIVE DEFENSE
Baylor's veteran defense, with ranks 9th nationally under third-year defensive coordinator Phil Bennett, has proven to be a force in disrupting opposing offenses through eight games in 2013. The Bears have doubled their average sacks and tackles for loss (compared to recent seasons) and are on pace to top recent totals for interceptions and total turnovers.

400 YARDS €ˆ- COMMONPLACE €ˆFOR €ˆBAYLOR €ˆOFFENSE
Baylor has racked up over 400 yards of offense in 35 straight games. That is currently the nation's longest active streak and 13 more than the next closest school (Texas A&M, 22). The last time BU €ˆfailed to reach the 400-yard plateau was Nov. 20, 2010 vs. Oklahoma (361). Under Briles, Baylor has had more than 400 yards of offense in 51 of 71 €ˆgames. Since the start of the 2011 season, the Bears have had 34 games with over 400 yards of total offense, which is the most in the country in that time period.

STARTING €ˆFAST
BU €ˆhas scored first in seven of its eight games this year to help it outscore its opponents by a combined total of 170-20 in the opening quarter. BU €ˆhas put points on the scoreboard in the 1st quarter in 24 of its last 25 games dating back to Nov. 19, 2011.

PERHAPS THE NCAA'S BEST OFFENSE EVER
The Baylor offense is on record pace for scoring and yards this season as the Bears are averaging 61.0 points per game, 686.0 yards per game and 8.6 yards per play. BU's points mark is currently ahead of Army's NCAA record of 56.0 in 1944, the Big 12's record of 51.1 by Oklahoma in 2008 and BU's record of 45.3 in 2011. The Bears' yards per game number is on track to be ahead of Houston's NCAA record of 624.9 in 1989 and the program record of 587.08 in 2011. Baylor's yards per play average is on pace with Hawaii's NCAA record of 8.6 in 2006 and is ahead of the program record of 7.63 in 2011.
