Lake Charles, La. - Baylor (9-1) swung a season best .338, as 12 players saw action in a 3-0 win over Bethune-Cookman (0-11) (25-13, 25-16, 25-18) Saturday morning on day two of the Big Daddy's Invitational. Winners of five straight, the Bears are off to their best start since 2009 when they started 11-0.

"I liked the fact we were able to get a lot of people some playing time today," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We had some new players step up for us today and take advantage of their opportunity."

Laura Jones and Adrien Richburg each collected eight kills, while Adri Nora totaled seven and Zoe Adom and Nicole Bardaji added six each. Kayce Evans and Hope Ogden tied for the team lead with six digs, and Richburg's five blocks added to the stifling BU defense.

The Bears, who swung no worse than .222 in any set, ended the night with a .245 hitting percentage and held the Cowgirls to a .184 percentage.

Baylor came out of the gates swinging early with an 8-1 lead, including seven straight off the serve of Adrien Richburg. Behind a dominant attack, the Bears stretched got out to a lead as big as 14 before the final margin of 25-13. Zoe Adom totaled four kills, as the BU defense forced the Wildcats to hit -.115 in the opener.

Bethune-Cookman held an early lead in set two before Baylor tied it at 10-10 and never looked back. Laura Jones had four kills to lead an attack that swung .300, while BU held BCU to a .000 hitting percentage.

The Bears went to the bench in game three, using key reserves for the 25-18 win. Kristin Fitzpatrick recorded three kills off five swings, while Nicole Bardaji, Adri Nora and Jones each totaled four kills each. Baylor never trailed in the set, swinging .448 as a team.

Baylor will play its final match of the tournament this afternoon beginning at 4:30 pm against Hampton.
