Baylor (6-1) used a season best .309 hitting percentage, led by Laura Jones' 14 kills to sweep Texas State (4-4) 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-14) Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center. The match was highlighted by a seven-point comeback for BU in set two.

"Our serve/receive was pretty poor in the first two sets," head coach Jim Barnes said. "I knew if we could just do that we would be fine. We were still a little jet-lagged from Hawaii, but we found our energy and got the job done."

Jones .542 hitting percentage was the highest by a Baylor player this season, while Alyssa Dibbern added 12 kills on the night for her second-straight 10-plus kill match.

"It was nice to see Laura get going," Barnes said. "We are going to need her as the season goes on and we saw what she is capable of tonight."

The Bears held an early lead in the first set until the Bobcats reeled off four-straight points for a 13-15 advantage. Tied at 20, Baylor scored three in-a-row off the serve of Kate Harris for a 23-20 lead that eventually turned to a 25-22 win. Dibbern, Jones and Torri Campbell each had four kills in the opening set.

The second set excitement began with a Jones service error to tie the match at 11. That set Texas State off running for nine-straight points and an 18-11 lead. A kill from Dibbern ended the rally, and down 22-16, the Bears began to claw back. Behind the serves of Harris, Baylor scored eight-straight and took a 24-22 lead. With the match tied at 24, Jones and Thea Munch-Soegaard scored back-to-back points to complete the comeback win in set two.

Baylor never trailed in the third set, led by Jones' seven kills. The Bears swung .429 in the final set, capped by a 7-1 run that saw them lead by as many as 10 until the final point made the margin 11.

Baylor hit above hit above .250 in all three sets for the first time this season and have registered back-to-back games of at least 10 blocks.

Baylor will hit the road for nine-straight matches, beginning with four games at the Big Daddy's Invitational hosted by McNeese State Sept. 7-8 in Lake Charles, La.
