WACO - After dominating the opening set, Baylor (13-5, 0-3) allowed No. 15 Kansas State (15-1, 2-1) to come back with three-straight set wins for the 3-1 victory Saturday night at the Ferrell Center. The loss for BU is the third in a row to a ranked opponent.

"We let them off the hook and you can't afford to do that against teams like Kansas State," head coach Jim Barnes said. "We began the second set with five hitting errors and gave them the momentum back. I certainly see us getting better, but consistency is an area we still need to improve upon."

Zoe Adom's season high 15 kills led the Bears for the second-straight match after hitting .387 on the night. Torri Campbell added 13 kills and a .522 hitting percentage, while Laura Jones recorded 10 kills of her own. Kate Harris picked up her ninth double-double of with 40 assists and 18 kills and Mackenzie Mayo registered three service aces.

Defensively, Hope Ogden grabbed 16 digs and Mayo added 10, while Campbell and Jones each picked up four blocks.

The Wildcats managed a .255 hitting percentage, while Baylor's .231 mark was the highest in a loss this season.

The Bears came out hot in the opening set, never trailing the Wildcats, who managed to tie the game just once at 1-1. Up 22-16, Mayo recorded back-to-back aces to put the nail in the coffin before Jones ended the set with a kill. Campbell and Jones each had three kills, as BU swung .320 in the first for a 25-18 win.

Down 5-3 in the second, Baylor let the KSU lead reach five with three-consecutive hitting errors, forcing itself to take a timeout. Trailing by as many as seven, the Bears cut the K-State lead to three (17-20) on a Campbell kill and forced a timeout. An assisted block from Adri Nora and Alyssa Dibbern brought the Bears within two, 19-21, but that was a close as they could get before falling 25-22.

Neither team held a lead larger than three in the third, as BU clung to a 19-16 advantage late in the set. A KSU block tied the game at 22, forcing a Baylor timeout. The Wildcats came out the timeout to record three of the next four points, taking a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 win.

Kansas State took control in the fourth set, with Baylor managing just one tie at 8-8 on a second-straight kill from Campbell. A 5-0 KSU run followed, leading to a 25-16 victory and the 3-1 win.

Baylor will have a week off before traveling to Kansas (14-2, 2-0) on Sat., Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
