AMES, Iowa - Baylor (13-3, 0-1) went on the road and claimed a set from No. 19 Iowa State (7-4, 1-0) but ultimately fell 3-1 Saturday night before a crowd of 2,207 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

"This was a great learning experience for us," head coach Jim Barnes said. "I am really proud of our effort, and I thought we battled them very hard. We just have to learn how to win some of those tough, crucial points, but this was good for us."

Alyssa Dibbern led the way with 12 kills on the night, while Torri Campbell added nine and Adri Nora and Laura Jones collected eight each. Kate Harris picked up her eighth double-double of the year, collecting 35 assists and 16 digs.

Baylor managed just a .174 hitting percentage on the night, while the Cyclones hit .326. Mackenzie Bigbee had 18 kills for ISU, however, BU held her to just four in the final two sets.

Iowa State swung .633 with no attacking errors in the opening set, as Bigbee had eight kills to lead the Cyclones to a 25-15 win in set one. Alyssa Dibbern had four kills for Baylor, who hit .278 as a team.

The Bears controlled the early part of set two, leading until Iowa State took a 14-13 lead. Baylor hung in the set before ISU closed the second on a 6-1 run for a 25-20 win. Iowa State hit .314 in the stanza, while BU swung just .088.

Baylor jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set. Iowa State battled it back and had an 18-16 advantage before the Bears grabbed a 24-22 lead on the block of Nora and Dibbern. After a point from the Cyclones, BU was able to force a bad set and claim the 25-23 win. BU outhit ISU in the set .179-.140.

Set four proved to be a back-and-forth affair, as neither could grab a lead larger than three until a 4-0 Iowa State run gave it a 17-13 advantage. A kill from Laura Jones, one of four in the fourth from the freshman, brought BU to within three but that was as close as the Bears would come, falling 25-17.

Baylor will return home for the first time in nine games for a nationally televised match against No. 9 Texas on Tues., Sept. 25 at 7 pm on ESPNU.
