MT's Zsiga Falls in NCAA Singles First Round

ATHENS, Ga. - Baylor men's tennis' season came to and end today as freshman Mate Zsiga lost in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championships in Athens, Ga.

Playing on the Henry Feild Courts at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex, the 17th-ranked Zsiga dropped a three-setter to Georgia senior Ignacio Taboada. After Zsiga won the first set, 6-4, the 52nd-ranked Taboada claimed the next two sets, 6-4, 6-2, to earn the victory and advance to the tournament's round of 32.

Zsiga, a native of Szeged, Hungary, finished the season with a singles record of 36-9, including a 15-9 mark against nationally ranked opponents. His 36 victories rank No. 10 on Baylor's single season wins list and places him No. 2 among Baylor freshmen. Former Bear Benjamin Becker registered 37 wins as a freshman in 2002, while Lars Poerschke also won 36 matches in 2005 as a rookie.
