CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Baylor men's tennis completed play in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a 4-0 loss to Texas A&M in second round of consolation action on Sunday morning at Boars Head Sports Club.

The seventh-ranked Bears finished at 0-3 in the tournament with losses to Stanford, Auburn and the Aggies to fall to 4-4 on the season. Texas A&M, ranked No. 16 and sporting a 7-3 season record, earned its first win of the tournament by downing the Bears.

"We finished out match Saturday at midnight and had a short turnaround with such an early start Sunday. The guys gave it all they had today and I am proud of their effort," said head coach Matt Knoll.

Doubles was closely-contested as all three matches went down to the wire. At court one, Mate Zsiga and Roberto Maytin dropped a 9-7 decision to 55th-ranked Jackson Withrow and Junior Ore. The Aggies claimed the doubles point when Jeremy Efferding and Niall Angus defeated Kike Grangeiro and Julian Bley on court, 9-8, winning the tie breaker 7-5. On court two, Marko Krickovic and Robert Verzaal had dueled the Aggies 36th-ranked tandem of John Lewis and Colin Hoover to an 8-8 tie when play was suspended.

In singles, Texas A&M won two-set matches at No. 2 and 3 when Hoover downed Maytin, 6-2, 7-6(5) and Ore defeated Krickovic, 6-3, 6-4. Despite winning the first set at No. 6, Bley couldn't maintain the momentum and lost the next two sets to Angus who clinched the match for the, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

The Bears return to action on Monday, Feb., 27 when they travel to Berkeley, Calif., to take on the California Golden Bears at 1 p.m. (CST). Baylor's next home match will be on Thursday, March 1, when it hosts SMU at 2:30 p.m.
