Lenz Continues Run At Regional Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - Baylor men's tennis freshman Julian Lenz remained perfect in singles play at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships with two straight-set victories on Monday at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center.

To open his day, the 14th-seeded Lenz swept past 10th-seeded Facundo Lugones of TCU, 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal round, the BU freshman upset TCU's fourth-seeded and 77th-ranked Nick Chappell, 6-3, 6-2, to improve his win streak to five and his record to 10-2.

Lenz will face third-seeded and 46th-seeded Daniel Whitehead of Texas in Tuesday's singles final, which begins at 11 a.m. The two players will be battling for an automatic bid into next month's USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships.

Lenz's teammate sophomore Marko Krickovic was beaten by Whitehead in the quarterfinal round, 6-2, 6-2. Krickovic is now 8-3 overall, after going 3-1 at the tournament.

In the consolation quarterfinals, Robbie Korth was beaten by UT Arlington's Sebastian Erimicioiu, 6-3, 6-4. The Baylor sophomore finishes play at the event with a 2-2 mark.
