MT- Doubles Tandem Eliminated in Quarterfinals

STANFORD, Calif. - The All-American doubles tandem of John Peers and Roberto Maytin lost in quarterfinal action of the NCAA Doubles Championship on Saturday afternoon at Stanford, Calif.

Peers and Maytin, ranked No. 5 nationally, are just the second Baylor doubles team to play in the tournament quarterfinals.

The BU tandem was defeated by the third-seeded and fourth-ranked Texas A&M team of Jeff Dadamo and Austin Krajicek, 6-2, 7-6(4). Dadamo and Krajicek's victory avenged and earlier loss to Peers and Maytin. BU's duo had defeated the Aggie duo, 8-4, on April 20 at Waco. The loss snapped a 13-match win streak for Peers and Maytin.

Peers and Maytin finished the season at 36-6 and posted a 19-5 record versus ranked opponents. The pair ranks No. 1 and No. 2 on Baylor's single season doubles wins list, Maytin has won a school-record 39 matches this season while Peers follows closely with 38. Lars Poerschke held the previous record of 35 which he set during the 2004-05 season.
