WACO, Texas - Baylor track and field head coach Todd Harbour announced Friday the addition of three student-athletes to his 2011 recruiting class, including New Zealander Alex Jordan. The class, which will begin at Baylor in the 2011-12 academic year, now totals 17 student-athletes.
Along with Jordan, a quartermiler, Harbour also added two distance runners in Jenna Rogers and Alex LeRoux. Jordan hails from the Tasman School in Nelson, New Zealand, and will join the men's team with LeRoux, a Seven Lakes High School product from Katy, Texas. Rogers, from Christian Academy of Louisville in Louisville, Ky., will join the Baylor women.
"These are great additions to a really outstanding recruiting class," head coach Todd Harbour said. "Jenna (Rogers) will provide some good depth to our women's distance crew, and Alex Jordan is one we were really excited to land. He is the top-ranked 400-meter runner in New Zealand, and is excited to become a Baylor Bear. Anytime you can land a national champ like him, it's an amazing addition to your team."
Jordan and LeRoux bring the total of men's newcomers to seven, including a new total of four distance runners and one quartermiler. Jordan is the first 400-meter runner of the signing class, while Le Rouf joins distance additions Derwin Graham, Matt Galvin and Mike Stanley.
