WACO, Texas - Baylor competitive cheer hosts Azusa Pacific and top-ranked Maryland for its first-ever multiple team meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Ferrell Center. The meet will be the Bears' final home meet of their inaugural season.
The Bears are 1-2 on the year with a win at Fairmont State and losses at No. 1 Maryland and in Waco against No. 2 Oregon. The winter storm that hit Central Texas in early February prevented the Bears from traveling to Azusa, Calif. for their Feb. 5 meet, so Baylor will be competing for the first time since it hosted Oregon on Jan. 23.
No. 1 Maryland has a perfect 3-0 record during the 2010-11 season with wins over Quinnipiac, Baylor and Fairmont State. ASU has a 2-2 record with victories over Fairmont State and Quinnipiac and a pair of losses to No. 2 Oregon.
All tickets for Thursday's meet will be general admission. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for youth and $2 for group tickets. Baylor students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with a Baylor ID.
Following their final home meet of the season, the Bears hit the road for a head-to-head meet against Azusa Pacific in Azusa, Calif. on March 5. Baylor's road trip continues two days later when the Bears take on Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
