Texas State enters the match with a 20-6 overall record, including 11 consecutive victories. After starting the year 4-4, the Bobcats have won 16 of the last 18 and are 11-1 in the Southland Conference.
Sporting a multi-faceted attack, TSU has four players that average between 2.49 and 3.03 kills/set, led by Amari Deardorff. Lindy DeGeare brings in a tough serve that has led to 47 service aces this season, and Ashlee Hilbun has been a superb blocker at 1.16/set for a total of 107.
STORYLINES
- After dropping three in a row in Big 12 play, Baylor picked up its best win of the season, taking down No. 33 (RPI) Kansas State in five sets at home to move to 16-9, 4-6.
- Baylor is just one win away from securing its fourth consecutive winning season for the first time in program history. BU had three straight from 1991-93, 1999-01 and currently 2008-p.
- Baylor is 9-20-1 all-time against Texas State, but the Bears have won eight of the last 10 meetings, including five in a row. Baylor is 3-6 all-time in San Marcos, but has won the last two.
- Baylor has three RPI €ˆtop-40 wins on the season, including home victories over Kansas, Missouri and Kansas State. Six of BU's seven remaining matches are against RPI top-40 teams.
- Against KSU, FR Adri Nora played the RS hitter for the first time since her freshman year of high school, and responded with 17 kills and only three errors in 37 total attacks to hit .378.
- SR €ˆL Allison King currently holds the BU €ˆrecord and is fourth all-time in the Big 12 with 1,921 career digs. This year she has 24 matches with at least 10 digs, and eight with more than 20.
- Head coach Jim Barnes earned his BU-record 130th win on Oct. 5 in a sweep over Texas Tech. Barnes sits just four wins away from 300 for his career.
