WACO, Texas - Baylor competitive cheer hosts No. 2 Oregon for the program's first-ever home meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears were on the road for the first two matches of their inaugural season. Baylor opened with a win at No. 3 Fairmont State on Dec. 3, and two days later, the Bears held a lead through four events at top-ranked Maryland before the Terrapins rallied to win.
The Ducks will be competing for the first time during the 2010-11 season. Oregon bounced between stunts and gymnastics meets and competitive cheer tournaments last season, but this season the Ducks will compete exclusively under the acrobatics and tumbling meet format that is sanctioned by USA Gymnastics.
All tickets for Sunday's meet will be general admission. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for youth and $2 for group tickets. Baylor students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with a Baylor ID.
Following Sunday's meet, the Bears return to the road for their first-ever multiple-team tournament. Baylor travels to Azusa, Calif. to take on Azusa Pacific, Quinnipiac and Fairmont State on Feb. 5. After that meet, the Bears return home to host their final home event of the season when they welcome Azusa Pacific and Maryland to the Ferrell Center on Feb. 24.
