ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The AT&T Cotton Bowl has teamed up with NCAA Football to host a free youth clinic on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Cowboys Stadium. Baylor Head Football Coach Art Briles will be the featured speaker at the clinic for youth ages 7-14.
The youth football clinic is part of NCAA Football's youth initiative program to promote college football to those that dream of playing the game. Youth will participate in offensive, defensive and agility drills run by local college coaches.
The NCAA Youth Clinic will culminate with Briles speaking to the participants at 11:15 a.m. Over 250 youth are registered making the clinic one of the largest of the 22 participating bowls nationwide. Registration for the clinic is now closed.
Parents and coaches of youth football teams associated with the participants are also encouraged to attend a one-hour session from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lori Ebihara, Assistant Commissioner of the Big 12 Conference, will provide an overview of NCAA academic eligibility requirements and help provide families and high school administrators with information to prepare prospective student-athletes for the future transition from high school to becoming an NCAA Division I or II student-athlete. In addition, Ebihara will review general NCAA recruiting rules, including when college coaches can start contacting prospects.
The NCAA Youth Football Clinic is one of many events produced by the AT&T Cotton Bowl. The 2011 Classic will mark the game's 75th anniversary and will be played on Friday, January 7th in primetime at 7 p.m. on FOX. For more information, visit the Classic's website at www.attcottonbowl.com.
The clinic kicks off a busy day for Briles, who is scheduled to appear at Big 12 Football Media Days that afternoon, as well as the "Bear Blitz" Coaches Dinner at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel at 7 p.m.
