Middle blocker Brooke Delano leads the league in hitting percentage (.430) and blocks per set (1.46), while the Huskers' 6-2 offensive system with setters Sydney Anderson and Lauren Cook has formed a Big 12-leading combination. Along with Delano's 2.98 kills per set, 2009 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Hannah Werth, averages 2.84 kills per set and Lindsey Licht is at 2.95. Libero Kayla Banwarth is fourth in the league in digs per set at 4.80 to help lead the defense.
In the 30-match history between the teams, Baylor has only won five sets against the Huskers, with the last coming on Nov. 29, 2008. Last season, Baylor narrowly lost the opening setin the Ferrell Center, 28-26. The Bears also held a lead in all three sets in the meeting in Waco this season, but weren't able to come away with a win.
THE TOP FIVE
-After back-to-back matches on the road, Baylor stumbled at home against Missouri in its last match. The Bears took a 3-0 defeat against the Tigers on Wednesday, leaving the match with Nebraska as the only opportunity for an RPI top-50 win. Baylor has just two matches left on the season, Nebraska (RPI €ˆNo. 2) and Texas Tech (RPI €ˆNo. 173).
- Senior Caitlyn Trice solidified her spot as one of the best liberos in Baylor history. Trice chalked up 23 digs in just three sets against Missouri to add on to her Baylor single-season record total. Now at 582, she needs just six digs to move into second all-time in single-season Big 12 history. The overall record is 646, set in 2008 by Iowa State's Ashley Mass.
- Baylor's back-row defense is ranked second in the NCAA in digs per set, averaging 18.95. BU also leads the Big 12 by a huge margin, posting more than two digs per set better than any Big 12 team. With 69 digs against KU, Baylor topped the 2,000-dig mark for the first time in the rally-scoring era and only the sixth time ever. The team single-season record is 2,673, set in 1993.
- Middle blockers Elizabeth Graham and Torri Campbell have helped carry Baylor both offensively and defensively in Big 12 play. In league matches, Graham leads the team in kills (209), hitting percentage (.318) and blocks (85). Meanwhile, Campbell is second in all three categories racking up 174 kills, hitting .282 and recording 60 blocks in BU's 18 conference matches.
- In the meeting earlier this season, Baylor proved it was on the verge of pushing Nebraska, as the Bears held a lead in all three sets against the Huskers.
