The 12th-ranked Cyclones have won five of their last six matches, but more importantly, carry a 10-1 record at home. All 11 of ISU's home matches have been played inside the 2,000-set Ames High School Gymnasium due to late summer flooding inside Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones have sold out nearly every match this season at AHS, gaining a unique home-court advantage. However, with the relief efforts nearly complete, the match with Baylor may be the last one outside of the Hilton Coliseum.
Offensively, ISU has two main weapons in league kills-per-set leader Victoria Henson (4.27) and Carly Jenson (3.08). Setter Allison Landwehr took over the setting duties after the graduation of All-American Kaylee Manns and has averaged the second-best mark in the league at 11.53 assists per set. On defense, libero Ashley Mass is ranked fourth in the league at 4.65 digs per set, while Jamie Straube is eighth in the Big 12 with 1.11 blocks per set.
THE TOP FIVE
- After winning back-to-back conference home matches, Baylor took Oklahoma down to the wire, but came away with a five-set loss. The match marked the fourth consecutive season that the Sooners have beat BU in five sets in Norman, Okla. The loss puts the Bears (12-11, 5-7) in a sixth place tie with Texas A&M €ˆand Kansas, who each have five conference wins.
- Two Baylor players set career numbers in the Bears' most recent game at Oklahoma. Senior Elizabeth Graham kept up her spectacular play in conference matches, setting a career-high 18 kills, while hitting .351 in the match. Redshirt freshman Zoe Adom provided BU with a spark off the bench, recording a career-best 12 kills and hitting .435.
- Baylor's back-row defense is ranked third in the NCAA in digs per set, averaging 18.69. BU also leads the Big 12 by a huge margin, posting three digs per set more than any Big 12 team. As a team, Baylor has racked up a league-leading 1,645 total digs on the season, and is averaging 18.84 digs per set in its 12 conference matches.
- Senior Caitlyn Trice and junior Allison King have led Baylor to its top ranking in digs per set. Trice leads the conference with 5.25 dps, while King is ranked eighth in the league at 4.06. They are the only set of teammates in the top 10 in that category in the Big 12. Meanwhile, Trice's average is on pace to shatter King's single-season digs-per-set record of 4.46 set in 2009.
- Despite Iowa State's top-15 ranking each of the last two seasons, BU has challenged the Cyclones in each of the last three meetings, sweeping then 11th-ranked ISU last season.
