Competitive Cheer Picked Fourth

WACO, Texas – Baylor’s competitive cheer team was ranked fourth in the 2010-11 National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association preseason coaches’ poll, as announced by NCATA Monday.

Baylor, which is the newest member of the NCATA, was given 12 points and voted to finish behind Maryland, Oregon and Fairmont, respectively.

The Bears were ranked ahead of Azusa Pacific and Quinnipiac. Maryland, who was picked as the preseason favorite, received four first-place votes and a total of 24 out of a possible 25 points. Oregon and Fairmont received one first-place each.

Baylor’s inaugural season begins Dec. 3 when the Bears travel to Fairmont, W. Va. to take on the Fairmont Falcons. Baylor will compete at home for the first time when Oregon comes to Waco Jan. 23.
