The Baylor-ISP Radio Network, a division of International Sports Properties (ISP) and the Baylor University Department of Athletics, will include 11 affiliates for the Bears' 2009 football season which kicks off Sept. 5 at 2008 EagleBank Bowl champion Wake Forest (2:30 p.m. Central).
"With Dallas' WBAP airing every play of Baylor Football in 2009, we may well have our strongest football radio network lineup ever," said Nick Joos, Baylor Senior Associate Athletic Director/External Affairs. "More than 19 million people will have access to our games on AM/FM radio and fans can again find our games world-wide from Sirius or Baylorbears.com.
"We appreciate the ISP Team, led by General Manager Doug McNamee, putting together such a strong network line-up," he added. "The strength of our network is the quality of our stations, and it starts with our Waco flagship, and continues throughout the state."
Waco's ESPN Radio KRZI 1660AM returns as the flagship station for all Baylor Athletic broadcasts, while 50,000-watt WBAP (820AM) serves as the network affiliate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for football.
Baylor football will also air in Abilene (KULL, 92.5FM), Amarillo (KIXZ, 940AM), Austin (KXZN-AM & KWNX-AM 1530 / 1260*), Houston (KKHT, 100.7FM), Lubbock (KJAK, 92.7FM), Lufkin (KYBI, 100.1FM), San Antonio (KSLR, 630AM), Stephenville (KCUB, 98.5FM/107.9 FM) and Tyler (KPXI, 100.7FM).
In addition to the radio presence, Baylor Football will be available world-wide through web streaming at BaylorBears.com and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 161. Again this year, Baylor's audio webcasts will be offered to fans free of charge.
The "Voice of the Bears," John Morris, will handle the play-by-play duties for the Baylor ISP team, which will mark his 23rd year broadcasting Baylor football. Former Baylor standout J.J. Joe will provide color for the broadcast. Other members of the 2009 Baylor football radio broadcast crew include sideline reporter Ricky Thompson, engineer Craig Harper and ISP Network studio host Bradford Hines.
Broadcasts on ESPN's 1660AM begin two hours prior to kickoff, while the other network affiliates scheduled to begin pregame coverage 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
The Central National Bank Art Briles Show makes its 2009 debut at 6 p.m. on Sept. 3 on network affiliates in Waco, Austin, Stephenville and Tyler (tape-delayed). The show, which originates from Briles' office in the Simpson Athletics and Academic Center at the Highers Athletics Complex, will also be carried live on Baylorbears.com. Air dates are Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24; Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 24.
Baylor-ISP Sports Properties also produces live radio play-by-play broadcasts of Baylor men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and select softball games, as well as the State Farm Baylor Hour, which will make its 2009-10 debut on Monday, Jan. 11, 2010.
