VB: Barnes Named National POW

WACO, Texas - Senior setter Taylor Barnes was selected as the College Volleyball Update National Player of the Week for her efforts for the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 6. During the span, Barnes helped lead the Bears to their first-ever appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
In Baylor's first match of the tournament, Barnes had 29 assists, along with five digs, four kills, two block and two service aces in a sweep over Georgia Tech.
Against eighth-seeded UCLA in the second round, Barnes met the challenge, chalking up 50 assists and 20 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. She narrowly missed her fifth-career triple-double with eight kills.
Baylor takes on ninth-seeded California on Friday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m. CT in Gainesville, Fla.., at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The winner of that match will take on the winner of Penn State/Florida on Saturday.
