LAST TIME AGAINST TEXAS
No. 24 Baylor dropped its Big 12 first match of the season, getting swept (21-25, 22-25, 15-25) at the hands of the second-ranked University of Texas on Sept. 23 at the Gregory Gymnasium in Austin, Texas. The loss halted Baylor's season-opening winning streak at 11 matches.
Elizabeth Graham, who transferred to Baylor from UT this season, had a great night with six kills on 10 swings with no errors. She also racked up four blocks in her first match back in Austin, Texas, since transferring after last fall. Ashlie Christenson led the way with eight kills for the Bears who had a season-low .125 hitting percentage (34-21-104). The Bears had not hit under .200 in any match previously this season.
Texas totaled seven blocks in the match, leaving the Bears with 14 unforced hitting errors. On offense, Destinee Hooker paced the Longhorn attack with a match-high 15 kills. UT's Heather Kisner tied BU's Allison King with a match-high 11 digs.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 24 Baylor struggled finding its offensive stride against ninth-ranked Nebraska in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-20) sweep on Wednesday night in front of a sellout crowd of 4,097 at the Nebraska Coliseum.
Baylor hit a season-low .089 (33-22-123) in the match, which marked the first time in 2009 that the Bears hit under .125. Nebraska, on the other hand, only hit .203 (44-19-123), but got a spectacular performance on the back row from libero Kayla Banwarth and solid blocking at the net by Kori Cooper. Banwarth finished the night with 32 of NU's 63 digs, while Cooper had five blocks (3s, 2a).
For the Bears, Katie Sanders had a team-high nine kills, while Ashlie Christenson added eight. Four Bears had nine digs in the match, including Sanders, Caitlyn Trice, Jordan Rice, and Taylor Barnes. Barnes had 26 assists in the match.
