IRVING, Texas -
Baylor junior goalkeeper Gianna Quintana earned Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.
Quintana earned the award for the first time in her career after coming up with six saves to help lead the Bears to a 0-0 tie at No. 8 Texas on Oct. 31. The shutout was the first of the season credited to Quintana, who has helped the Bears to seven total shutouts on the year. The tie also marked BU's first result against a ranked team since 2004.
The Big 12 defensive award was the first for a Baylor player since Ashley Noah won the award on Oct. 1, 2006.
Missouri midfielder Mo Redmond was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, while Texas A&M forward Alyssa Mautz won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors.
