BAYLOR VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO OKLAHOMA
The Baylor volleyball team hits the road for the second time this week as the Bears travel to Norman, Okla. to face Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the McCasland Field House. The Bears are coming off a 3-1 loss at Iowa State on Wednesday night. In that match, Baylor took the first set, but could not hold the lead as the Cyclones rallied for the four-set win. In the previous match up between Baylor and Iowa State, the Bears took the first set before falling to the Cyclones 3-1. In Oklahoma's visit to Waco in October, Baylor held on to win a five-set thriller over the Sooners in Baylor's first five-set match of the season. Baylor is 1-1 in five-set matches on the season, while Oklahoma holds a 3-4 record in five-set matches. Katie Sanders leads Baylor with 270 kills this season, while five other Bears have topped 100 kills on the season. Taylor Barnes has collected 808 assists and a league-high 37 service aces. Anna Breyfogle leads the conference with 1.52 blocks per set, while freshman Allison King has recorded 317 digs this season and holds a 17-match streak with 10 or more digs. Oklahoma enters the match following a 3-2 upset of third-ranked Texas in Austin on Wednesday night. The Sooners picked up the program's first-ever victory over a Top 5 team and its second win over a team ranked in the Top 10. Francis Ekwerekwu leads the way for Oklahoma with 222 kills, while Brianne Barker has recorded 765 assists. Lacy Barnes leads the team with 314 digs, while Caitlin Higgins has tallied 24 service aces. Chrissy Disarro blocks at a 1.22 blocks per set average. Katie Sanders tallied 21 kills and Anna Breyfogle connected on 19 kills as Baylor defeated Oklahoma 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 26-28, 15-13) at the Ferrell Center. With the win, Baylor moved to 3-0 in the Big 12 Conference, the first time that Baylor had won its first three conference matches in program history. Baylor won its first two conference matches in 1996 and 1997, the first two seasons of the Big 12. The two teams traded points through the first 20 serves of the fifth set. Baylor pulled in front by two at 11-9 on a hitting error and ball handling error. After a timeout by Oklahoma, the Sooners responded with back-to-back kills to tie the match at 11 apiece. With the match tied at 12-12, Baylor got kills from Briana Tolbert and Breyfogle to give the Bears match point. After an Oklahoma side out, Breyfogle connected on her 19th kill to end the match. Sanders also tallied 21 digs on the night, marking her third-career 20 kill-20 dig match. The last time she achieved the feat was at Oklahoma last season when she tallied 22 kills and 28 digs. Breyfogle's 19 kills came on .359 hitting. She also added a team-high six blocks, including one solo. Ashlie Christenson also reached double-digit kills with 15 kills. Taylor Barnes recorded a season-best 64 set assists and added a career-high 20 digs on the night. She also served up a match-high four aces. Baylor put three players over 20 digs as Allison King also chipped in with 21 digs.

Victoria Henson tallied 19 kills and Rachel Hockaday added 16 kills as Iowa State rallied from a one-set deficit to down Baylor 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-18, 26-24) on Wednesday night at the Hilton Coliseum. Earlier in the season, Iowa State overcame a first-set loss to down Baylor 3-1 in Waco. Katie Sanders led three Baylor players in double-digit kills with 11, while Briana Tolbert and Anna Breyfogle added 10 kills apiece. Taylor Barnes dished out 46 set assists to go along with four service aces. In addition to her six aces against Kansas State on Saturday night, Barnes has recorded 10 aces in her last nine sets played. Allison King recorded a team-high 18 digs, extending her current streak to 17-straight matches with 10 or more digs. The Bears recorded 10 total blocks, including four apiece for Barnes, Breyfogle and Sanders.
