MANSFIELD, Texas - Denes Lukacs saw his run in the USTA Futures Pro Tournament at the Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas, come to and end on Thursday as he was beaten in the main draw's round of 16.
Lukacs, a native of Eger, Hungary, was defeated by eighth-seeded Matthew Ebden, a 6-1 right-hander out of Perth, Australia. Lukacs won the first set 7-6 (4) but dropped the second set 6-2. In a tight-fought contest, Ebden scraped out a 7-5 third-set win to claim victory and advance to the tournament quarterfinals.
"This match will help Denes a lot. There were several things he could have done much better and he still had a great chance to beat a seasoned professional. He is like a rocket ship ready to take off," said head coach Matt Knoll.
