Volleyball Travels to Second-Ranked Nebraska

BAYLOR VOLLEYBALL TRAVELS TO SECOND-RANKED NEBRASKA The Baylor volleyball team hits the road on Wednesday night as the Bears travel to face second-ranked Nebraska at 7 p.m. at the Nebraska Coliseum. The Bears are coming off a 3-1 loss against Iowa State on Saturday afternoon. After starting conference play with a 4-1 record, Baylor dropped both of its league matches last week. The Bears fell 3-0 at third-ranked Texas before dropping a 3-1 decision to Iowa State on Saturday. Katie Sanders leads Baylor with 209 kills this season, while Taylor Barnes has collected 602 assists and 26 service aces. Anna Breyfogle leads the conference and ranks second in the nation with 1.60 blocks per set, while freshman Allison King has recorded 235 digs this season. Nebraska enters the match undefeated on the season, including an 8-0 record in Big 12 action. The Huskers have swept their last five opponents, including four-straight in conference matches. The Huskers are led by Jordan Larson with 209 kills. Sydney Anderson averages with 11.59 assists and 0.36 service aces per set, while Kori Cooper holds a 0.95 blocks per set average. Libero Kayla Banwarth averages 4.23 digs per set. The match, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will have live stats and a live video webcast online at Huskers.com and will feature an audio webcast available on the All-Access package at BaylorBears.com

LAST TIME AGAINST NEBRASKA Three Nebraska players reached double-figure kills as the second-ranked Cornhuskers defeated Baylor 3-0 (30-11, 30-18, 30-26) at the Ferrell Center. The match marked the final home contest for seniors Amanda Modglin and Kristen Schramek who were honored prior to the match. Jordan Larson tallied 12 kills and Tracy Stalls and Sarah Pavan tallied10 kills apiece for Nebraska (26-1, 18-1 Big 12). The Cornhuskers hit at a .319 (49-12-116) clip and registered nine service aces. Ashlie Christenson and Modglin each recorded seven kills to lead Baylor (14-16, 6-13 Big 12), while Taylor Barnes added five kills. Kelsey Smith and Mady Bates each tallied a service ace for the Bears. Sarah Grace recorded a team-high 13 digs, while Smith and Barnes added nine and eight digs, respectively. Modglin also recorded three total blocks.

LAST TIME OUT Victoria Henson connected on 18 kills, and Jen Malcom added 14 kills as Iowa State rallied to defeat Baylor 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon at the Ferrell Center. The Bears drop their first home match after winning its first nine home contests this season. Katie Sanders led the way for Baylor with 13 kills, while Briana Tolbert added nine kills for the Bears. Taylor Barnes added 36 set assists and tallied two service aces. Sanders and Anna Breyfogle also tallied two service aces, while Allison King recorded a match-high 24 digs. Breyfogle and Tolbert each added four total blocks for Baylor.
