Men's Tennis Extends Win Streak to Four

WACO, Texas - Fourth-ranked Baylor defeated No. 45 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 6-1 in men's tennis action Wednesday at the Baylor Tennis Center.

The Bears took the early lead in doubles play as Denes Lukacs and Attila Bucko defeated Jan Cingel and James Langford, 8-5. Securing the doubles point for the Bears were David Galic and Jordan Rux with their victory over Mikhail Pavlov and Dmitry Novikov, 8-6, at the No. 1 doubles position.

The men went on to win five of their six singles matches. Lars Poerschke earned Baylor's second point with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Dmitry Novikov at No. 1 singles, and clenching the match for the Bears with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Laurent Montoiay was No. 10 Denes Lukacs.

"I thought the guys showed a lot of heart on the court today," head coach Matt Knoll said. "These early games help us learn where we are as a team and individually. Texas A&M Corpus Christi gave us a chance to grow."

The Bears are now 4-0 for the season and continue their current six-match home stretch Friday against No. 45 Washington 3 p.m. and Sunday against No. 14 Florida at 2 p.m.
