Baylor hits the road as the Bears travel to Lincoln, Neb. to face top-ranked Nebraska at 7 pm. on Saturday at Nebraska Coliseum.
The Bears are coming off a 3-0 home loss to Texas A&M on Wednesday, marking Baylor's fifth consecutive home loss. Baylor started the season 2-0 at home before dropping two matches in the Baylor Invitational and three straight league contests in the Ferrell Center. Baylor holds a 2-5 home record and a 6-2 record away from Waco.
Against the Aggies, Baylor held a 27-24 lead in game one, but allowed Texas A&M to rally for six straight points to take a 1-0 lead. The Aggies had all the momentum they would need as they held on to win game two and three to close out the sweep.
Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) led the way for the Bears with 14 kills and 10 digs to record her 11th double-double of the season. Ashlie Christenson (Cleburne, Texas) added a career-best 13 killsfor the Bears. Baylor also got 11 kills and just one hitting error from Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas). The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week also tallied a career-high 10 digs.
Sarah Grace (Houston, Texas) collected 21 digs to take over the Big 12 lead in digs per game, but the freshman suffered a leg injury and will not play against Nebraska.
Nebraska enters the match with a perfect 11-0 record on the season and is ranked No. 1 in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Cornhuskers are riding a 21-match winning streak, and have only lost one game this season, defeating fifth-ranked UCLA by a 3-1 score. Nebraska is led by the 2005 and 2006 AVCA Players of the Year in Christina Houghtelling and Sarah Pavan. The Cornhuskers placed five players on the preseason All-Big 12 team.
