Baylor returns to Waco on Saturday evening as the Bears play host to Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears claimed their first Big 12 win of the season on Wednesday night as Baylor rallied to defeat Colorado 3-2 in Boulder. Baylor faced a 14-12 deficit in game five, but rallied to win the last four points and take the deciding game 16-14.
The win by Baylor snapped a 13-match winning streak for Colorado over the Bears. The last time Baylor defeated Colorado was a 3-0 victory in Boulder during the 2000 season.
Baylor recorded 23.0 total blocks, setting a new school record for team blocks in the rally scoring era (2001-present). The previous record of 22.5 total blocks was set last season in a 3-1 win over UC-Davis in Baylor's season-opening match.
Leading the way for Baylor in the win against Colorado was middle hitter Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) who tallied 13 kills and a career-high 13 total blocks. Haley Thomas (Jewett, Texas) recorded 13 kills with only three hitting errors (.357) and added a career-best nine total blocks (two solo). The combo tallied two consecutive blocks in game five to tie the game at 14 apiece and then give Baylor a 15-14 lead.
Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) contributed 18 kills to lead the Baylor offense, and added six total blocks. Taylor Barnes (Arlington, Texas) and Amanda Modglin (Houston, Texas) each tallied eight blocks for the Bears. Oklahoma enters the contest on a three-match winning streak after defeating 16th-ranked Kansas State in Manhattan on Wednesday. The Sooners own the Big 12's top conference record at 3-0.
