Discuss what you have done during the summer to help prepare you for the upcoming season.

A lot of the guys stayed here in Waco over the summer, and since we all had jobs, we woke up at 5:30 a.m. every morning. We tried to get to bed early, get a lot of rest and get miles in.

What are your goals for this season?

As a team we're trying to get top seven at conference and improve on what we did last year. Individually, I would like to get top 35 at conference and top 30 at regionals.

Discuss your role as a leader on the cross country team this year.

I guess showing the younger guys the ropes and helping them get accustomed to the training and be a leader in workouts and off the track.

What do you see as your team's greatest challenge this season?

It's hard for the younger guys to get used to the races because the distance is a lot longer and a lot of them didn't run too much mileage in high school. It takes awhile to get used to the training and managing their time.

What is the most positive thing you've seen from your team so far this season?

We've come together as a team and we all get along really well. We're all here for the same reasons, which is always good.
