The Baylor football team donned full pads for the first time in fall camp for Tuesday evening's practice on the Floyd Casey Stadium grass practice fields.
"They looked good (tonight)," said Baylor head coach Guy Morriss. "They are still moving around pretty well. I think the energy level is there. We are still putting in some things and every time you add something it is going to slow the tempo down a little bit because of the thinking.
"But, we are about through with all of our installation," he added. "Once we get that done, it's just polish, polish, polish until Sept. 1 (opener at TCU).
Through six practices, Morriss believes that the Bears' offensive and defensive units are about on track for the opener against the nationally ranked Horned Frogs.
"I think we are pretty close to being where we are supposed to be and what we kind of thought it would be," Morriss said. "The defense is still giving us everything that we can handle. Every time we (the offense) think we about caught up with them they hit us with some new blitz. We've got to see all that, though. We've got to learn to deal with the pressure."
The Bears will return to the practice field Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Notes: Sophomore OT Thad Boatner (Hamilton, Texas) sustained a knee strain during Tuesday evening's workout ... Morriss said the Bears are still waiting on two spring signees, OL Courtney Green (Corsicana, Texas) and DE Antonio Johnson (Waco, Texas), to hit the field ... Johnson is awaiting the green light from the NCAA Clearinghouse, while Green is working to resolve an academic issue of his own ... Currently, the Bears have 102 players in fall camp ... Baylor's annual Meet the Bears Day is scheduled for Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. inside Floyd Casey Stadium.
