WACO, Texas - Baylor sophomore middle blocker was named third-team ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-District VI, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
Breyfogle, a product of Jack C. Hays High School in Buda, Texas, earns her first career academic all-district nomination. Baylor places a student-athlete on the all-district ballot for the second straight season as Nicole LeBlanc earned second-team honors in 2006.
This season Breyfogle leads the Big 12 conference, and ranks ninth in the nation, with 1.58 blocks per game. She leads the team with a .347 hitting percentage and ranks second on the squad with 274 kills and a 2.88 kills per game average.
Breyfogle, who holds a 3.36 grade point average in psychology, was named to the fall and spring Big 12 Commissioner's Honor roll as a freshman. She is just the sixth player in Baylor history to be named academic all-district.
Baylor returns to action on Saturday as the Bears play host to 12th-ranked Kansas State at 12 noon at the Ferrell Center.
