Baylor's Megan Sherrell was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season following a three-goal effort that led the Bears past Nebraska on Friday, league officials announced Tuesday.

Sherrell ended a personal five-game scoreless streak and Baylor's six-game winless streak on Friday against Nebraska as she scored three goals. Sherrell's hat trick was the first of her career, the first Baylor hat trick since 2005, and the hat trick for the Bears in Big 12 play since 1999. The senior climbed on to both the single-season and career scoring lists at Baylor with her three-goal effort.

"Megan has stayed after practice a couple of times each week," said head coach George Van Linder. "I am glad to see that hard work pay off for her. I'm sure what is important to her is that she helped her team get a much needed win. From a defender for three years and to make the switch is really just amazing and it highlights what type of player and people we have on this team; they are all very unselfish and willing to do whatever it takes to win."

Sherrell was inches away from adding her fourth goal of the weekend against Iowa State on Sunday when a ball that appeared to cross the goal line was pushed out and stayed live.

On the week, Sherrell scored three goals off of four shots-on-goal, including the game-winner against Nebraska, a team that Baylor had a 3-12 all-time record against entering the contest.
