The Baylor men's tennis team participated in first day action Friday at the 10th Annual Met/Rice Indoor Invitational at the Downtown Club at the Met in Houston. Baylor is the tournament's top-seeded team and ranked No. 2 nationally.

In A Flight singles action Dominik Mueller, Denes Lukacs and Lars Poerschke each won first round matches to begin the day. Mueller, ranked No. 53 nationally, won his first match in straight sets defeating Jason Mok (Rice) 6-3, 6-2 but dropped his second match to Ohio State's No. 62 Bryan Koniecko 6-0, 6-2.

Poerschke, ranked No. 56, defeated Bryan Wooten (Texas A&M) 6-4, 6-1 before falling to No. 29 Andrey Kumantsov (TAMU-CC) 6-1, 6-4. No. 66 Lukacs, advanced to the second round after Mikhail Pavlov (TAMU-CC) withdrew from the tournament but was defeated by No. 42 Devin Mullings (Ohio State) in a three-set match 5-7 7-6, 6-3.

Matija Zgaga, Matt Brown, Attila Bucko and David Galic each lost round of 32 matches and moved into the consolation bracket.

The Bears will hit the court again tomorrow as the double team of Matt Brown and Attila Bucko advanced to the quarterfinals by nailing down an 8-5 victory over TCU's Radu Barbu and Cosman Cotet. In addition, Zgaga, Brown and Galic all will see consolation quarterfinal action on Saturday after consolation victories on Friday.
