WACO, Texas - Michal Kokta, David Galic, Matt Brown, Denes Lukasc and Dominik Mueller will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to participate in the Polo Ralph Lauren Men's All-American Tennis Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa, it was announced today. The tournament, hosted annually since 1979, will be held for the second straight year at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the Tulsa campus.
The Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships include 128-player and 64-doubles team qualifying tournaments October 2-4, which feed into the 64-player, 32-doubles team main draw which takes place Oct. 5-8. In the qualifying draw, 16 singles players will advance to the main draw.
Kokta, a senior, finished the season last year with a No. 34 ranking and a team-best 38-9 record. He will be competing in both single and doubles. Galic, a sophomore, will team with Kokta for the first time when the two take the court in the doubles main draw.
Sophomore Matt Brown and newcomers Denes Lukasc and Dominik Mueller, both freshmen, all were selected to the 128 player qualifying singles draw.
In last season's Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, Lars Poerschke advanced to the championship match where he fell to Georgia's John Isner, 7-6(4), 7-6(3). Poerschke and current senior Matija Zgaga were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the doubles bracket. Zgaga and Kokta competed in the 128 player singles qualifying draw but did not advance to the main draw.
