The Baylor Football coaching staff hosted women from across Central Texas at Floyd Casey Stadium this Saturday, July 29 for a Football 101 Clinic. The event attracted approximately 140 women of all ages with varying levels of football knowledge.

The event began with a welcome from head football coach Guy Morriss, an introduction of his coaching staff and an overview of the rules by NCAA official Charles Derrick. Following that, special teams coach Chris Lancaster, offensive coordinator Lee Hays, and defensive coordinator Bill Bradley gave overviews of their respective areas as well as answered questions from the women.

The ladies then received a tour of the facilities, looking at the equipment room, weight room, and the training room. Many of them were able to try on shoulder pads and helmets, while others received a "tape job" by head athletic trainer Mike Sims. Following the tour, the women received a pre-game talk by Lancaster before running out of the tunnel as a group onto the field under the lights for instructional drills.

After coming onto the field, the ladies received instruction on throwing, catching, tackling and even kicking. Some of the ladies took turns with the tackling dummy, while others threw passes and kicked field goals.

Special thanks to Dairy Max and Sironia for their sponsorship of the event. Amelia's on the Avenue provided the dinner for everyone and Dairy Max provided a dessert as well as nutritional tips.

Baylor begins its fall practice this Friday, Aug. 4 and opens the season Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m. against TCU. Season tickets are one sale now and can be purchased by calling the Baylor ticket office at 254-710-1000 or by logging onto BaylorBears.com.
